ARTWORKS
“The Hollywood-fueled iconographic imagery of Los Angeles is inescapably linked to feelings of freedom and dreams. The freeways, the Pacific ocean and the beaches, the palm trees, the Hollywood sign, the deserts, the boulevards, the mansions, the mountains, the swimming pools, the cars and the glamorous people: these are the pallet of my art.”
I am also available for custom commissions. Many of these works can be scaled, personalized and made specifically for your home, office or location. Write me to learn more.
AUTOPIA
Paintings over ink-jet prints of aerial views of Los Angeles freeway interchanges
MYTHICAL PAINTED LANDSCAPES Photographed from above and over-painted with acrylic in vibrant colors, this series transforms aerial freeway interchanges from a conflicted reality into graphical and poetic artworks, with mythical historic landscapes that recall our agricultural past. The idealized landscape, painterly brushwork, flattened and shifting horizon lines, and seductive colors recall Wayne Thiebaud’s Sacramento River Delta series and Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park works. I CALL IN THE OCEAN VOICES
Lenticular Prints Combining Text and Moving Images of Ocean Waves
EVOCATIVE PHRASES Oceans are wondrous and always changing. Its shorelines are never still or quiet. I wanted to to create artworks that evoke its movement and its voices. Five frames from a video of ocean waves are combined to give a sense of the movement of waves, into which evocative words are added. Artworks remaining: Imagine Believing. Imagine It’s Coming. Imagine Resisting. Imagine the Irresistible. Imagine Tranquility. Bet Everything. Prescient Fearless Beauty Unbounded Passionate Irrepressible. Learn more about this series.

PACIFIC SHIMMERS
Painted Dye Sublimation Prints on Aluminum of Ocean Reflections
ABSTRACTIONS OF WATER REFLECTIONS These original artworks are both colorful abstractions and evocative waterscapes. I am lucky enough to have spent hundreds of days, paddling, surfing, swimming, sailing or mostly just admiring the ever changing light and waves of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. Its patterns of waves and reflections inspired this series of painted, dye sublimation prints on aluminum. Learn more about this series.

TOTEM BATHERS
Painted Sculptures of Bathers & Surfers
COLORFUL BATHING BEAUTIES Three colorful, expressionistic females in swimsuits are stacked up like a totem pole of the Native peoples for the Pacific Northwest. Their meanings mirror those of these sculptures, presenting a range of complex and symbolic mythologies. My years spent on Southern California beaches inspired me to create these free-standing sculptures of sunbathers, made from acrylic paint on carved poplar wood. Learn more about this series.
