I Call in The Ocean Voices

Oceans are wondrous and always changing.  Its shorelines are never still or quiet.  I am lucky enough to have spent hundreds of days, paddling, surfing, swimming, sailing or mostly just admiring the ever changing light and waves of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. The sounds, movement and patterns of these waves have inspired this series. To create these unique artworks, I have used a seldom used photographic print called a lenticular that can display multiple images when you move beside it, thereby creating an effect of the moving ocean with words that come in and out of the waves.

In an enhanced electronic version of the works, I place the prints in 4” deep boxes, where I backlit them with motion-controlled lights, which further enhances the motion effects.
