Pacific Shimmers Series

These original artworks are both colorful abstractions and evocative waterscapes. I am lucky enough to have spent hundreds of days, paddling, surfing, swimming, sailing or mostly just admiring the ever changing light and waves of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. It’s patterns of waves and reflections inspired this series. To create these original paintings, I start with a photograph, then enhance and manipulate its colors before having a dye sublimation print made on aluminum. The reflectivity of the silver aluminum enhances the shimmering subject matter. Finally, I over paint certain details with acrylic. The final work reveals three levels of depths: the water itself, the reflections and the painted highlights.
