Pairings Series
Inspired by the dual weddings portraits of the Renaissance, this series of digital art works is comprised of dozens of juxtapositions of painted, photographed or slow motion video portraits of two individuals in a continuous looping video, presented in side-by-side frames on top of high-def monitors.
In this series, I explore various visual, conceptual and emotional connections between two individuals, whom, in most cases, had never meet each other. In making these juxtapositions, I am suggesting an implied relationship between them, predominantly romantic. These imagined couples invite the viewer to quickly deduce a range of fictional characterizations about them, their relationship, and the type of life they might have together. Imagined Lives
Comprised of historical painted portraits, these juxtapositions are intended to make the viewer deduce an implied relationship and emotions between the two individuals.
Criminal Elements
Our perceptual bias for making instant good/bad decisions is tested as each pairing of historical photographs challenges viewers to guess who is the criminal.
